Day 2 at O'Brien architecture
Today was a really exciting day. I learned how to use AutoCad (kind of), which is a program on the computer that created two dimensional models of buildings. It is kinda hard to understand, but i'm starting to get it. I also had the chance to go out to lunch with the president and founder of the company, Mr. Jack O'Brien. He asked me questions about my interest in architecture, and i asked him some questions as well. After a while, i feel like we became pretty comfortable with one another, and we began talking about soccer. He told me about how his son, Sean, who is also my mentor, used to play. Sean never mentioned this. Today i also got to actually go out and meet with a client. Tien, one of the architects, took me to Lincoln Square in Arlington, which is one of the projects Mr. O'brien made about thirty years ago. We went out because the client wanted to change the color of the shopping center. so me and Tien went out there and met with the client. I also met with one of the spec. writers, Sannil. He works on doing specifics, which are crucial in the building of anything. He pretty much writes out the manual on how the building is to be built and what material must be used. It is a very detailed and important job. Builders use the manual he makes to create the buildingd, without him it is impossible for the building to be made. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow!
